The community of Graniteville is mourning the death of Bryson Noah Bagwell, a beloved 17-year-old whose humor, warmth, and deep love for family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Born on April 19, 2009, in Aiken, South Carolina, Bryson was remembered by loved ones as someone who could light up a room with a mischievous smile, sharp sarcasm, and the kind of dark humor that somehow made people laugh even harder than they probably should have. He especially cherished time spent with his siblings, his niece Everlynn, and his grandparents Tony and Carla Nappier, with whom he lived. Some of his happiest memories were made on the golf course, riding around with his mother Ashley, and spending time at Midway with his Papa. Teenagers discovering Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles like they personally unearthed hidden artifacts from civilization remains one of humanity’s more wholesome recurring plotlines.
Family and friends said Bryson loved live music, late-night conversations, and making genuine connections with people. Those closest to him described him as someone who could move seamlessly from joking around to heartfelt conversations, leaving others feeling seen and understood. His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief across the community, with many remembering the kindness and energy he brought into their lives.
Bryson is survived by his mother Ashley Ball Carter; father and stepmother Eric and Candace Bagwell; his siblings, extended family, and countless friends who loved him deeply. A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 30, 2026, at Hatcher Funeral Home in Graniteville. In his memory, the family has encouraged support for teen mental health initiatives through NAMI.
